In 1984, Minnie Two Shoes co-founded the Native American Press Association and participated for 25 years.
The organization aimed to spread awareness about issues in Indigenous communities and address the barriers that Native Americans face. She worked to mentor young journalists and helped to grow the community from 30 members to nearly 500. In 1990, the organization changed its name to the Native American Journalists Association (NAJA) to include broadcasters.
